With five kids there is always something going on – especially now that my older ones are becoming more involved in sports, Boy Scouts, and community activities. At the same time I’m pursuing more large-scale projects for my problogging, book writing, and speaking/teaching. How do I stay connected?
Well for the last month I’ve been using the new Windows Phone with their cool live tiles features. The home screen is totally customizable so I can have the items I most use and need on there – pictures, camera, wordpress, email, etc. I was even able to easily separate work and personal email making it easy for me to watch one like a hawk as I was on deadline for the Blissfully Domestic redsign project, while ignoring my personal emails until the end of the day.
Being able to create a room group with my family members only meant I could stay connected with the people who mattered most during the entire process. Checking in with them was easy that way – even when working more than usual. And of course I had to take a minute to play with the How We Met app. Here’s the cute story it created forSidney and I….fun right?
And speaking of fun – probably one of my favorite features on the Windows Phone is the Kids Corner. It’s a section of the phone where I can put all of my the kids’ favorite games. The best part? The kids can access it from the lock screen WITHOUT me having to unlock the phone! Apps in the Kids Corner can be played but no in-app purchases made and they don’t have access to my messages, phone contacts, work documents, etc. I’m just saying that Alli, who appears at the top of my contact list, has received more than one toddler-text on my old phone – no more!
So the month-long experiment with the Microsoft Windows Phone isn’t quite to a close yet and I still have some things to learn about the best ways to use the features. But I am loving some of the unique features that allow me to really personalize the phone like Groups, Rooms and Kids Corners.
Life is busy, we all find ways to make the most out of our time.
The new Windows Phone is reinvented around you including features like Live Tiles, Live Apps, Kid’s Corner, and SkyDrive, making it easy for you to personalize your phone how you want it. Now it is easier than ever to stay in touch with what matters most.
