‘Tis the season for pies of all sorts! Pumpkin and pecan take center stage, but apple pie is a classic that can’t be missed. If you need to jazz up your apple pie for another holiday gathering, this is an easy and delicious twist.
Caramel Apple Pie
7 cups thinly sliced apples
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, chilled and diced
13 caramel squares, quartered
How to Make Caramel Apple Pie
1. In a bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, sugars, spices, flour, butter, and caramels. Making sure all the apples are covered with the mixture.
2. Take the mixture and use a spoon too add it into the crust. Once inside the pie crust, cover with second pie crust. then cut vent holes in the top.
3. Bake at 375 for 50 minutes. If you find your edges of the crust browning cover with tin foil after 25 minutes, then bake for another 25 minutes.
4. Allow to cool and enjoy.
