Working out at home is fantastic for busy people, and any product that makes home exercise more accessible has got to be a good idea. Yoga-Paws solve the problem of slippery floors, unstable poses, wrist pain, and sweaty hands and feet in any yoga, Pilates, or strength program.
What are Yoga-Paws?
Think of a good yoga mat: it’s sticky to prevent slipping, padded enough to be comfortable, and big enough for any position you want to assume. But what if your shoulders are wider than the mat or you’re too tall to place your hands and feet on it at the same time? What if you like more freedom than a narrow rectangle allows?
Yoga-Paws are essentially high-quality yoga mats that are worn on the hands and feet. No matter where you place your hands, or how far you lunge or step, the mat will always be perfectly placed — and Yoga-Paws are also lined with absorbent, comfortable terrycloth that helps to prevent sliding.
How to Use Yoga-Paws
Once you’ve put them on and fastened the adjustable Velcro straps, the sky is the limit! Yoga-Paws make it easy and comfortable to exercise on hardwood floors, linoleum, even slate flooring. Take your practice onto the deck and soak up some sun while you work out!
And they’re not just for yoga — I had great results trying out Yoga-Paws during Pilates exercises, providing cushioning and grip for pull-ups, and even holding hand weights.
Yoga-Paws are beautifully finished and hand-washable, and they even come with a mesh carry pouch to keep them organized in a gym bag or workout closet. They’re perfect for travel or workouts on the go.
Pros and Cons of Yoga-Paws’ Design
In comparison to other wrist supports and nonslip gloves I’ve tried (and as a Pilates instructor I’ve tried a few), Yoga-Paws are impressively well-made. They’re far more than just a piece of mat with a strap attached: the gloves have individual finger compartments and the foot-paws have a big toe strap that keeps them securely in place.
In fact, the only drawback I found is that Yoga-Paws don’t cushion the spine or hips. If you’re going to be lying or rolling on the floor, be sure to have a soft mat available. Nevertheless, it’s still a great idea to use the Yoga-Paws for balancing positions where the hands and feet are on the ground, and simply use a Pilates mat or quilt for comfort when lying down.
