You know how sometimes you are in the zone? You are enjoying life, you are present, you are in the zone, you are super productive, and your creativity dial is turned to super-max? I’ve enjoyed times like those throughout my life but at other times it just wasn’t there.
I used to blame it on my Muse, as any good music/theatre arts major would I suppose. If my muse wasn’t whispering in my ear there simply wasn’t anything I could do about that, right? I mean, everyone knows that those muses are fickle things after all. Well according to Brendon Burchard, and his book The Charge, that isn’t correct at all!
Brendon uses his own observations, years of experience as a life coach, and the latest research in neuroscience to help us learn how to stay in that moment of what he calls the active life or living a charged life. I think of it as keeping my Muse well-fed and happy and (most importantly) vocal.
When we activate our ten drives of human emotion we will be demanding more of ourselves. We’ll be demanding the charged life from ourselves, instead of just survival. Or status quo.
Eliminating toxicity in our lives. Insisting on pushing ourselves to learn new things. These are things I tend to do well already. Want to know what stood out to me? Page 72. “Integrate Successes into Your Identity”.
In other words – Own what you are doing right. Take a moment to bask in the feeling of having finished and accomplished this goal. This task. This milestone. Before leaping off to the next one.
Gosh if I embrace this I might not have 40 domains waiting for me to do something with because I get flooded with the feeling of needing to do more before I even finish what I’ve started. I might be able to accept a compliment without trying to deflect it. I might be able to move on to the next project with greater confidence and a feeling of being refreshed and energized.
Do you have trouble really accepting a success you’ve accomplished? Do you need a new challenge to wake your brain up? Well you’re in luck! You can get a copy of The Charge for FREE!
