If you are like me and you like buying things in bulk to save a few dollars, you might like to dehydrate things. It locks in the yummy taste and all the things that make fruit and vegetables as good as they are. After all, there’s only so much banana bread you can make!
Today I was able to get a few extra pounds of banana on sale, so I decided to make banana chips. They make a great healthy snack, dehydrating the bananas gives them a much longer shelf life. Just be sure to store them in a container that keeps the air and moisture out.

To make the banana chips, slice the bananas to about 1/2 inch thickness and lay them onto a lined dehydrator, making sure the slices don’t touch. Then, take 24 hours dehydrating on 135 degrees. Be sure to move the racks around to allow even drying. Once done, place in a container for airtight storage. Enjoy them as a standalone snack or added into trail mix and granola. Make sure you bring some along on your holiday travels, too – dehydrated foods are great travel snacks.
