I know a few of you make your own laundry soap – but I just can’t. I cannot add one more thing to my list right now, or something else (like sanity) will suffer. So we did a lot of shopping around and trying out of different things and I am really enjoying the ARM & HAMMER laundry products we were sent to review. I received the Ultra Power 4X Concentrated Laundry Detergent and have since picked up the Crystal Burst Power Paks Plus OxiClean.

Ultra Power 4X Concentrated Laundry Detergent

I really love using more highly concentrated laundry detergent. I feel like I’m not wasting my money buying water, the packaging is more environmentally friendly because the bottles are more compact, and it’s easier to store – especially when you are doing the volume of laundry that we do in my family. Win/win/win. The price is super reasonable – half the price of other brands and I like the smell of the laundry when it comes out. We’ve used baking soda as a laundry booster for a long time, so I like that this has the baking soda in the product already. Anything that saves me time and extra steps. The only downside we had with this detergent is the fact that my kids help with the laundry as one of their chore rotations and with a liquid detergent they are more likely to waste or use too much or spill it.

Crystal Burst Power Paks

This led us to the ARM & HAMMER Plus OxiClean Crystal Burst Power Paks. That’s a big mouthful to say “Super Awesomeness” because that’s what these are. I get all my cost-saving, clothes-cleaning goodness in easy-for-the-kids-to-not-waste little pre-measure paks. It’s genius. The 4-in-1 means that I have nothing more to add to the load and the paks make it impossible for my kids to accidentally use too much. The cost per load is slightly higher than the liquid detergent (You can get a coupon here), but the price of the ARM & HAMMER paks is much less than other single-load laundry things we’ve tried in the past. I love the OxiClean inclusion in this product too. Because, stains. Five kids + country living = stains galore.

Baking Soda in the Laundry

We use Baking Soda not only as a laundry boost to help control the pH level (making detergent more effective), but also to clean the inside of the wash machine. We’ve washed all KINDS of ….treasures….in our laundry. Gum. Crayons. Markers. Frogs. (I wish that last one were a joke) Diapers. (Ditto) About once a month or so I clean out the INSIDE of the washing machine – or as needed. 😉 Just like I would clean a delicate sink, I use baking soda and a wash rag to help get gunk, gum, or guts off the side of the washer so it will actually wash clothes again.  Run it through a cycle empty to rinse away the unnecessary and viola! Clean and ready for heavy duty action again.

  2. I have been using A&H for years! I love it! I only buy other products when money is tight and it is not on sale. Somehow, I always regret it. It would be great to win this so I can use what I really like!

    We dont really need boosters, because our water is very soft.

  22. I love the idea of detergent with baking soda. Like you, I add baking soda as a booster in my laundry, so it would be nice to cut out the extra product and step!

  26. Their laundry detergent for sensitive skin that is free of dyes/perfumes – I don’t like smelly detergent, I love a simple clean feeling w/ my clothing without the scent so this is perfect.

  28. The Fine Fabric wash would work with my HE machine and perfect for my sweaters and other clothes I wear to the office.

  35. I like the Arm & Hammer detergent in Orchard Bloom scent. That would really make my laundry smell good.
