Here’s how we made an M&M Ice Cream Cake with an Oreo Crust
Let’s Make an Oreo Crust!
2/3 package of regular Oreos
2/3 stick of melted butter
Twist apart those cookies and remove the filling. Whether you eat it or toss it really doesn’t matter. If you eat it, we won’t judge you. Now, put the cookie halves and pieces in a zippered freezer back and crush them with a heavy object. A rolling pin works well!
Toss the cookie crumbs with the butter, then press them into a glass 7×11 (or other 2.1qt or larger) baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees until the crust is starting to smell good and has a firm, spongy feel. It shouldn’t be hard or crisp… if it is, you’ve burnt it.
Let the crust cool completely.
Ice Cream Cake Ingredients
1 carton of vanilla ice cream, softened
1 bowl of cool whip, defrosted
1 bag of mini MM’s
1/2 squeeze pouch of thick chocolate fudge sauce
Mix the softened ice cream and cool whip till they are well blended. Gently toss in all but a handful or two of the M&M’s. The ice cream will start to take on some rainbow streaks… don’t mix too much or it will all run together and the filling will look gray. You want to preserve those streaks!
Pour the mixture over the cooled crust. Squeeze the chocolate sauce on in horizontal lines then carefully run a butter knife thru from side to side to make some cool designs. Sprinkle the remaining MM’s on the top and freeze for about 8 hours!
To serve, cut the cake and gently scoop out with a wide spatula. Be sure to get down under the crust!
Enjoy!

This was AMAZING!! I made this for my son’s 9th birthday party because he was really wanting an ice cream cake and the ones at DQ are just so expensive. This was inexpensive and tasted amazing! Everyone raved over it and he and his friends went back for seconds. Thank you for posting this!!!

Yes, I’m the same Liz from before and I just wanted to say we are still using this recipe! The only modification we’ve made is with the fudge on top we also add caramel. We’ve shared this recipe at every family gathering and there is never leftovers.
