I talked a lot in my last post about ASTRA, about the benefits of shopping your local toy store. I also talked about how much I loved the list of toys ASTRA put together this year.
They’ve brought back some new and improved versions of old toys from my childhood, like pot holders and Spirographs. They’ve also put some amazing new educational and thoughtful toys on the list like Timeline and Laser Maze. Here are a couple favorites I got to check out.
Do you remember Spirograph? I do! I loved those things! The new deluxe version is awesome – it comes in a case to store everything and on one side is a place for the paper to fit perfectly so it wont wiggle around.
Remember this? Gosh it’s a lot of fun.
I may have to break out my gel pens for this awesome stuff. It was fun to play with the different sized rings and colors. They’ve marked the rings to make it easy to follow the illustration guidelines and there are other little touches like putty (reusable) to help hold the rings still while you draw.
The other toy of the year I fell in love with on this year’s list is a fun history trivia game called Timeline. This fun game doesn’t take too long to play so it’s perfect for those snippets of time when you don’t want to turn on the TV but want to hang out together as a family.
The game has 110 history themed cards that you play by placing in the correct, chronological timeline. If you put the card in the right place you get to leave it and the first person “out” wins! Educational, fun, and easy-to-pack the metal case is sturdy and portable and can be taken with you on the road.
This post is a compensated post to raise awareness for Neighborhood Toy Store Day – reviews and photos are original.
Which toy from the ASTRA Best Toys for Kids list will you ask for at your local toy store this weekend?
