Yesterday we drove almost 2 hours to a blueberry farm where we could pick blueberries. It was a rather long drive but it was the nearest you-pick farm we could find. I found other listings online on third-party sites that seemed closer to me but the phone numbers or email addresses bounced back and I couldn’t find a website for them.
How many small businesses still don’t have a web presence online? Far too many! I’ve often said that small local businesses should embrace being online FASTER than their corporate counterparts because it creates a more even playing field.
When I search You Pick Farms in Atoka County and can’t find anything I’m sure I’m missing something. I’m sure there’s something in our area. But I’ll have to dig around a lot more to find it. Which is frustrating in the 21st Century and with technology that makes it so simple for local businesses to create simple websites and get their name out there better.
That’s why I’m so excited about the content GoDaddy is having to support local businesses. You can nominate one of your favorite local businesses by June 24th and if they are one of the top ten they will win a new website of their own.
And hey – if you know a You-Pick farm within a 60 mile radius – nominate them for me OK? 🙂 My youngest has almost eaten all our blueberries already.
Know a small business that suffers from No WebSitis? You can nominate them to enter the contest or vote for your favorite. Ten local small businesses will win a website from Go Daddy and you could win a $50 Visa Gift for nominating them!
