Plenty of boxes have recipes on the side, but some of them are just begging to be made. That’s how I felt about this apple pie recipe on the side of a pie crust box. WIth Thanksgiving coming up, simple, delicious desserts are on everyone’s radar. Grab a box and bake with me!
Pillsbury Apple Pie Ingredients
1 box Pillsbury pie crust, softened
Approx. 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 c sugar
2 T all-purpose flour
3/4 t ground cinnamon
1/4 t salt
1/8 t ground nutmeg
1 T lemon juice
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Press one of the pie crusts firmly into a 9″ glass pie plate.
Combine filling ingredients in a large bowl and spoon it into pie plate. Lay the second crust over the top, and wrap the excess crust under the bottom edge and press the edges together to seal and flute. Vent the pie by cutting slits or even shapes in the top crust.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown. After the first 15-20 minutes, cover the edges with 2- to 3-inch wide strips of foil to keep them from browning too much. Cool on a cooling rack for at least 2 hours before serving.
Yum! Do you make your crusts from scratch or do you enjoy the convenience of boxed crusts?
