Looking for a place to buy handmade soaps that smell great and won’t dry out your skin? I had the pleasure of reviewing a Sweet Orange Vanilla bar of soap courtesy of Vintage Handmade Soaps and I highly recommend this soap!
Natural oils and silk milk (for extra moisture) are some of the lovely ingredients that go into Vintage Handmade Soaps. The soaps are scented with either fragrance oil or natural essential oils. Each delicious scent is created and hand-cut for your enjoyment, from Chocolate Mint to Peach Blossom to Bama Pride!
Heather, the creator of Vintage Handmade Soaps, sent me a bar of Sweet Orange Vanilla to review. I used my bar for a week to see how it would affect all areas of my skin. I’m sensitive to fragrances so I was curious to see if it would bother me. I washed my face, hands and body with the soap and also tried it on my kids’ skin at bathtime. The scent on this particular soap is very light, but I prefer that due to my sensitive skin. I’ve purchased their Sweet Mint soap, which has a stronger (makes-you-almost-want-to-eat-it!) scent.
After I washed my face for a few days with the Sweet Orange Vanilla soap and lukewarm water, I noticed that my skin wasn’t feel tight and flaky like it normally gets during winter. That was really a relief for me! My children’s skin was the perfect combination of squeaky clean and soft after bath. It is even gentle enough for my little baby!
I also gave a bar (Sage and Lemongrass) to my mom who is very sensitive to fragrances. She has been using it for a couple of weeks now and says that the fragrance does not bother her at all!
One recommendation I have is to store your bar of soap uncovered. For the first couple of days, I kept mine in a closed soap container in the shower and the oils in the soap separated a bit from the rest of the bar. After I put it on my counter uncovered and let it harden back up, it returned to normal.
After six weeks of using my bar, I’m convinced that homemade soap is the way to go (I was convinced after only 10 days and we’re still using the same bar)!
The price of the soaps ranges from $3.50-$5 and each bar will last a long time. You can also order gift certificates. The shipping is reasonable and your order arrives quickly. Heather’s customer service is wonderful too!
