Bedtime with babies or toddlers can be quite a challenge for most parents. Usually, the little one is so charged up and excited or cranky and irritable, that sleep comes late and in fits and starts. While I’m not in favor of toddlers watching television, especially before bedtime, I changed my opinion when I had to review Zen Baby, a mellow collection of guitar and piano music designed to soothe and relax babies and toddlers.
Banish Bedtime Blues with Soothing Music
I was given the DVD/CD combo for Zen Baby and when I snuggled up with my toddler to watch the DVD, it was a pleasant change from the sounds and sights that we usually get to watch on most kiddie channels. The music was soft, gentle and rhythmic while the visuals were a real delight. Gurgling babies, pudgy little hands, bright colored balls, beautiful flowers, buzzing bees and more greeted us accompanied by the delightful strains of the guitar and piano in the background. Zen Baby is ideal for bedtime music and viewing. It’ll help your toddler get into bedtime mode and if you have to watch anything, then this should be it.
Better still, just pop in the CD while you go about with the bedtime routine of changing your baby or toddler into nightclothes, brushing teeth and saying “good-night”.
Experiencing Everyday Pleasures with Simplicity
With chapters titled Touch, See, Hear, Play and more, the DVD has visuals that relate to each of the senses and various toddler activities. The video is inspired by Nature and helps you realize the enjoyment that lies in simple, everyday pleasures such as walking barefoot on the green grass, admiring the petals of a flower, exploring the beauty of the clouds and reconnecting with what is simple, pure and happy, just like your baby.
For babies and toddlers, Zen Baby will be an ideal stimulus inspiring them to explore Nature’s bounty and the simple joys of life. It encourages being outdoors, discovering, learning naturally, and just being, instead of doing.
Helping New Moms Relax, Unwind and Sleep Better
An added bonus that I found with Zen Baby was that it helped me sleep better as well. Being surrounded by soothing sounds and delightful visuals is a sure shot remedy to help you sleep better. If you’re a new mom dealing with sleep deprivation, you’ll especially enjoy unwinding with Zen Baby and snuggling down with your little one for naptimes and bedtimes.
I loved, absolutely loved, reviewing Zen Baby. It was different from anything else that I’d seen or used for my baby and myself. I’m all for using lullabies and soothing chants, but this combination of simple, pure music and relaxing visuals was a real gift for my toddler and me. I completely recommend it for parents who want to add music to their baby’s bedtime routine or are looking for a relaxing way to unwind with a baby or toddler.
