Around here, it’s not Christmas without Date Squares. They are at every get together and event, and with good reason! They’re oh so yummy. Here’s my Date Square recipe for the holidays.
Date Squares Ingredients
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch or 1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups of dates, diced

How to Make Date Squares
In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients except the dates, brown sugar, water, and lemon juice until the texture is like small crumbs.
Take half the mixture and press it to the bottom of a 9×9 pan, set aside.
On the stove in a pot, combine the dates, brown sugar, and water.
Cook on medium heat until it thickens, then remove from heat.
Mix in 1 tsp lemon juice.
Spread the filling over the crust in the pan, then put the remaining crust mix over it, pressing down lightly.
Bake in the preheated 350-degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
