Looking to wade through the hundreds of thousands of pregnancy information websites and find exactly what you need? Hopefully this review of my favorites will help you narrow it down. In part one of this duo, I shared some websites that I’ve referenced again and again in regard to health and fitness, the growth and changes taking place in my baby and my body, and decision making advice for labor and delivery. Here are some more fun sites that I love.
Finding the Perfect Name for Your Baby
There are hundreds of websites dedicated to baby names and their meanings, but the two I enjoyed the most are www.babynames.com, and www.babyhold.com. Baby Names is a cheery-looking site that lists the current most popular baby name and gives you the option to search by letter of the alphabet. The Babyhold site has an excellent section that allows you to search names of different origins. It also offers a free baby names e-book and some neat articles on names by category (like Beatles’ Baby Names). This site helped me decide on my son’s middle name, Espen.
Sharing Your Pregnancy and Baby News
When you decide to reveal your good news to the world, setting up a blog is an easy and fun way to share about your pregnancy and your baby’s birth with family and friends. You can design a free blog at Blogger.com, a site that is easy to use and gives you a choice of many different layouts. Babyjellybeans.com is a blogging site customized for pregnant moms and new babies and will give you a free trial for the first month. I have never actually used this website, but it looked like lots of fun!
Baby Announcements and Invitations
When it comes time to announce the birth of your baby, check out Baby’s Here for birth announcements made with 100% recycled paper. The Tiny Prints website has a huge selection of birth announcements in many price ranges. And I love Shutterfly’s birth announcement designs–a great mix of modern and traditional choices that will please everyone.
Reading Reviews on Baby Items
Consumersearch.com is a website with extensive information on many types of baby items. This site is free, unlike Consumer Reports, where you must pay for detailed reports. Consumer Search provides professional and consumer reviews and recall information on a wide variety of products for baby. The site also presents a Top 3 Best Reviewed and a What to Look For section in each category.
With so much information out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and spend hours searching the Internet when you should be relaxing and enjoying the new life growing inside of you. Hopefully these websites should give you a great start!
