Music for toddlers and preschoolers is a wonderful way to have fun with children, pass time on long car rides and, learn vocabulary and sentence construction. I love using music to teach my toddler about body parts, daily activities, names of the days and a lot more. In addition, music is a great way for us to spend rainy days snuggled in looking at picture books.
So, when I received the chance to review HitPlay Records’ and Life Path Entertainment’s A Children’s Classics Volume 1: Americana Series, It’s Fun to Sing Along, I was thrilled because the CD contains so many of the classics that we’d grown up, including a personal favorite, “You are my Sunshine”.
Music for Toddlers that’s Peppy, Catchy and Original
What impressed me about Children’s Classics Vol. 1 was that while the songs are classics, the music and the singing was really modern — energetic, peppy and charged-up without being jarring or harsh. So, if you have to listen to the CD five times over on a rainy day, you wouldn’t get bored to death. On the contrary, the happy and cheerful music will make you want to sing and dance along with your toddler or preschooler.
Toddler Music that Grown-Ups Can Enjoy
Usually, one finds CDs of rhymes and children’s songs that are so, well, child-like that listening to them is not something that adults enjoy. However, I found the Children’s Classics Vol. 1 to be refreshingly different. The music is filled with rhythm and beats, making you want to tap your feet and relive your childhood as well.
My toddler and I loved singing along to Itsy-Bitsy Spider, You are My Sunshine and B-I-N-G-O along with the other tracks. There are a total of 18 classic songs for kids as well as 1 original bonus track. The songs include:
01. B-I-N-G-O
02. Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
03. This Old Man
04. The Itsy Bitsy Spider
05. The Old Gray Mare
06. You are My Sunshine
07. Skip to My Lou
08. Animal Fair
09. If You’re Happy and You Know It
