Eating healthy and balanced meals can be taught to kids right from the start. Healthy habits are learnt and if parents have the right tools, then this learning can be easy and fun. The Healthy Habits sectioned plate designed by Amy Roskelley from Super Healthy Kids is one such child-friendly tool that will make eating a healthy meal super-fun for children of all ages.
Healthy Eating Habits Come Easy with the Healthy Kids’ Plate
Teaching kids how to eat healthy will be so much easier when kids have their own “special” plate to help them learn. The Healthy Habits sectioned plate by Super Healthy Kids is a lovely way of introducing children to the concept of balanced meals. The plate is divided into three sections with the largest for fruits and vegetables and two smaller sections each for meats, eggs and dairy, and cereals. The fun and colorful pictures make it easy for children to understand and learn that the largest portion on one’s diet should come from fruits and vegetables, followed by animal proteins and then, cereal-based carbohydrates.
The Importance of Eating Healthy Made Fun and Interesting
While parents can always tell their children about eating right, the Healthy Habits Plate makes the task easier and interesting. Children feel more empowered about deciding what to eat and the colorful pictures make it easy for even toddlers to learn what goes where. A mom and a nutritionist, Amy has designed the portion areas to ensure that kids eat the right amount of each food.
The plate “shows” kids that half of their plate should have fruits and veggies, 1/4th should have protein and the other 1/4th should have cereals or grains. The best part is there are no areas for desserts making it easy for parents, like me, whose kids may want dessert before dinner!
Why I Liked the Healthy Habits Plate
As a mom who wants her toddler to learn healthy habits early on, I loved the Healthy Habits plate. The design is simple and minimalist yet appealing enough for kids. The sectioned plate teaches children both portion control and the importance of eating right. Moreover, the plate is safe and easy to maintain. BPA and phthalate-free, it is also dishwasher-safe.
My toddler loved the plate right from the start. The pictures drew her attention and she pointed out “Mama, apples!”, “Chi-cken” and “Cheese”. The only problem I had was making her understand that she can’t have everything in the pictures for every meal!
If you are a parent who wants to make healthy eating a fun subject for your child, you’ll love the Healthy Habits plate. Practical, fuss-free and completely child-centric, the simple sectioned plate is the perfect tool for parents whose child, like mine, learns best by looking. It will make your child feel more independent and aware about eating healthy and making the right choices.
