If you’re a mom who has a preschooler or toddler and want to make learning the letters of the alphabet fun and easy, you’re going to love Doodles: Alphabet Coloring Fun. This fun-filled activity book for toddlers and preschoolers is the creation of Setria James, graphic designer, artist and book illustrator.
A Coloring Book with a Difference
You know all those kiddie coloring books with pictures of cats, dogs, more kids and teddies? Yeah, I like them. But what I like more is a coloring book that does double duty. Doodles:Alphabet Coloring Fun does that and more. For one, it is a kids’ activity book that will keep your preschooler happily engrossed on a rainy day. Two, it has alphabets in both upper-case and lower-case to facilitate learning. Three, the accompanying doodles of images for each letter are so cute, you’ll want to do some coloring yourself!
Learning the Alphabet and Having Fun
As a mom who firmly believes in experiential learning, Doodles: Alphabet Coloring Fun was something I really enjoyed using with my daughter. While she knew most of her letters, in upper-case, her recognition for lower-case letters was non-existent. Using the coloring book, she was able to start recognizing a few lower-case letters as well. So, yeah, I think it does make learning easy and fun.
What You May Want to Know
While I enjoyed using the coloring book with my daughter, I also believe that the simpler the methods, the greater the effectiveness. Doodles: Alphabet Coloring Fun with 52 images for kids to color in, is great to have in your waiting room kit or stashed away for rainy days but if you want something on a regular basis, you may want to look for a blank notepad and draw the letters yourself. Why? Simply because while the book is printed on acid-free paper and has a thick cover, the cost of $14.49 does seem a bit high for a child’s activity book. Other than the price factor, I think the book is a great gift idea for a toddler about to start preschool or a preschooler wanting to learn lower-case letters.
