We have a lot of family traditions that center around the holiday season. Christmas seems to bring out a lot of good memories for me and many of them are tradition related.
~Reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve as we each opened a single present.
~Rushing to see what Santa has brought us the next morning – his gifts were always the unwrapped presents.
~Opening stocking gifts first – then a leisurely morning as we each take turns opening presents one-by-one around in a circle.
~Bread-dough pancakes for a late breakfast meal – made by Dad of course!
~Yearly ornaments for everyone, often representing a significant event from the year.
~Homemade felt stockings made by mom.
Yes, Christmas is a time of many family traditions and I love seeing how my own children embrace so many of the traditions I grew up with. My daughter, only five, just told me how when she grows up she’s going to have a Christmas tree that SHE gets to put the lights on all by herself. Because that’s another tradition around here – only mom gets to do the lights on the Christmas tree.
