If your kids are like mine, then it’s a struggle putting on sunscreen. Maybe making sunscreen fun is the answer to this dilemma? At least that’s what I thought when I tried using Sunbow’s new line of sunscreen.
The paba free, hypoallergenic and water resistant zinc oxide cream, sunscreen spray and the sun stick feature the cartoon characters Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants on the bottle. This caught my eight-year-old’s attention right away. She’ll wear anything that has her favorite cartoon sponge on it. Sure enough, she put it on without being reminded and even put it on even when she’s not going outside.
What made the product even better is that the SpongeBob sunscreen is yellow and the Dora version is pink. My kids loved “painting” themselves with the colorful sun protectant, and it turned clear as the solution was rubbed in. Unfortunately, the product turns clear too quickly. I wasn’t able to tell if the kids missed a spot. The product may protect against UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of 30 and 45, but not if it isn’t applied all over the skin.
The zinc oxide cream also felt thick and a bit greasy on the skin. My kids didn’t seem to mind, though. They really liked the sweet, bubblegum scent that it left on their skin. It was almost like kid perfume.
Overall, I would highly recommend Sunbow Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants Sunscreen to other parents. I gives you one less thing to worry about on sunny days.
