Did you get a chance to watch The LEGO Movie© yet? If not you totally need to. We buy our movies on Vudu and have already purchased it. But I don’t like my kids to only have movies and TV in their lives – we LOVE to read. And if you have a reluctant reader, or little ones you are trying to introduce to the joy of a good book, getting a book based on their favorite movies is pure genius. For example, these LEGO® Movie Books from DK.
I recently received a handful to review with my kiddos and even though the older three are at their grandparent’s house for the week, the little guys enjoyed them tremendously. I am going to review and react to the LEGO® Movie books we got so you can see which would be the best fit for your family.
LEGO® Movie Ultimate Sticker Collection Book
If you’ve never seen these amazing books, they are one of the best deals on LEGO® stuff out there. For Evan’s LEGO® birthday party I bought one of these LEGO® sticker books and used the stickers to decorate dollar-store cups, plates, and balloons. I saved a ton of money on the birthday decorations that way.
The ultimate sticker book that has the LEGO® Movie theme is no exception. The pages have “fill-in-the-sticker” spaces for the kids to place their stickers. Each of the main characters from the movie is covered, such as Wyldstyle, The Master Builders, Lord Business, and of course, Emmet. There are also pages for some of the fabulous LEGO® settings like The Old West, and Bricksburg. In addition there are tons of extra stickers, like the one that Vivian is wearing on her face. And at only $12.99 suggested retail, for over a thousand stickers, you don’t feel bad letting them play with them.
The LEGO® Movie Level 1 Reader – Calling All Master Builders!
This is the one that Adam immediately fell in love with – Calling All Master Builders! I don’t blame him, the Master Builders from the movie were pretty awesome. This is a Level 1 reader from DK so you know the quality is great. Level 1 readers have frequent words so kids feel successful as readers. I love that even these easy-level readers have a good story line to capture kids’ interest.
The LEGO® Movie Level 2 Reader – Awesome Adventures
DK also is releasing a Level 2 reader based around The LEGO® Movie for readers who are becoming more and more independent. You’ll still need to present for some of the larger words, but readers will be more and more confident. Evan liked this one more than the other, but everyone else liked Master Builders more.
Both the readers retail for $3.99 each
The LEGO® Movie Hardcover – The Essential Guide
Oh I LOVE a good hardcover kid’s book. And this essential guide for The LEGO® Movie is super cute. Fans of the movie will love all the extra facts and trivia in the book. For example, did you know Vitruvious’s staff was a popsicle stick with a piece of green candy still attached? Lots of the major characters, settings, places, and elements of the movie are explored in this book. I especially liked the pages that covered the Bricksburg rebellion when the citizens fought back against the Kragle. The movie moves too quickly to get a close look at all the vehicles and things the citizens built so I loved the details in the book. Retails at $12.99.
DK sent me these books to review but all opinions and my kids’ reactions are authentic. We have loved both LEGOs and DK books for years. You can find out more about DK on their Facebook or Twitter, and check our their full LEGO® Movie book lineup. Which book would your kids like best?
