My daughter wanted her hair up for Gymnastics but told me that the week before her ponytail hurt her head. I decided to fix her hair in a crown french braid or tiara french braid hairstyle with a bun on the side. This left the back of her head, which touches during somersaults, free.
Start by pulling all the hair from the back of the head out of the way and start your french braid at the nape of the neck. French braid around the crown of the head using the hair from the edges of the head. I left a thick lock of hair loose in the middle to join with the braid later.
Continue braiding your french braid all the way around the head until you come to the side of the neck and have completed your circlular crown. Then gather the loose hair in with the braided hair and tie with a ponytail holder. In this case we used a fancy scrunchi and a loose, messy bun on the side.
Here’s Brianna ready for Gymnastics! And at the grimace-whenever-her-picture-is-taken stage but you can see how cute the braided crown looks.
She called it her Princess Braid.
