Personal care products are one of those things that can be intimidating to make at home. Sure, I can whip up a loaf of bread or some spaghetti sauce in no time and without much thought, but what about shampoo? Homemade lotion or deodorant? Or lip balm?
On the surface, a lot of these items seem like they would be hard to make or that the ingredients may not be readily available. However, I have discovered that this is just not true.
I recently made lip balm, and not only was it easy, I think it came out nicer than some types sold at the store, and I know exactly what ingredients were used in making it. Further, it is so customizable that I plan to do another batch that is softer and tinted!
Homemade Lip Balm
Ingredients
1 tbsp coconut oil (I use this.)
1 tbsp beeswax (I use this.)
1 tsp olive oil
1/8 tsp peppermint extract **
Some type of container to hold the lip balm (These are very similar to the ones I use.)

Colleen you are a genius! I LOVE this tutorial! Thank you so much for breaking it down and showing exactly how you make this. It’s so simple I think a lot of people could try this for themselves.

I love this recipe too. It’s so simple! I’ll have to try the beet root powder for coloring. Another colorant to try is Alkanet Root which produces more of ruby red. Thanks!

I just made this, it was very easy. As someone who is addicted to having something like this on my lips at all times this will save me a lot of money. Thank you for posting this!

Colleen,
If I follow this recipe exactly, about how much does it make? I see you filled 3 pots. What size were they? Thanks.
