Tired of the noisy, unimaginative toys you find at your local Target? Do you want to help encourage your child’s imagination without all the bells and whistles? Family-owned Kaskey Kids has created toys that will suit your needs perfectly!
Their sports action figures offer a great alternative to the TV and video game culture. Well-designed and super fun, Kaskey Kids Football Guys promote great imaginary play and are a creative gift for the child who has everything.
Inspiration for Kaskey Kids Sports Guys
Christy Kaskey says that their toys are “designed to encourage creative and imaginary play. With no set rules or directions, children are inspired to play with these sports figures the way they have been playing with action figures for years”. Kids control the movement and actions of the players, which encourages independent play.
Kids can play with them alone or with friends. The sports figures can be found for hockey, football, soccer (guys and girls) and baseball. There are generic figures and specialty collegiate figures. The toys are a good value, retailing between $24.99 and $32.99, when you consider the fact that they will keep your kids entertained for a long time and they won’t drive you crazy with noise!
Another creative use for the sports figures would be as a centerpiece for a Super Bowl or other sports party. Coaches have also used them to help explain positioning and strategy to their players.
Playing with the Kaskey Kids Football Guys
After looking at the Kaskey Kids colorful website, I chose the Illinois Football Guys for my set. My husband is a die-hard Illini fan from the Chicago area, so I knew he’d probably like these just as much as our four-year-old son.
My son was very excited to open the sharp-looking carry case, which included a sturdy felt field with the team logo on each end, 26 individual Football Guys, one referee and two goal posts. The figures reminded me of the soldiers and cowboys my dad and brothers used to play with as kids. They stood sturdily on the football field, even when placed on the carpet.
My husband and son went back and forth for quite awhile playing football. Apparently my son already has a pretty big imagination because he later parked his cars on the football field and said they were going to a game!
The only criticism I would offer is that the sports figures may be better suited for children ages 5-8 even though the suggested age use is 3-8. This is simply because a child’s comprehension and complex imagination improves with age. My son is four-and-a-half and he did play with them, although not for the length of time an older child would probably use it.
I would definitely recommend the Football Guys or any other sports guys set from Kaskey Kids as a terrific option for a child’s gift. It would be a fun gift for a grown-up sports fanatic too!
Kaskey Sports Guys can be found at Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Museum Tour Catalog and over 1500 specialty toys stores and collegiate fan shops around the US.
